Where I Stand On The

Issues

Focused on the issues that matter to District 35

  • Education is Fundamental

Education is the foundation of a strong community and a successful future. If we want to move forward, we must invest in what works—and support the people on the front lines: our teachers.
Too many educators are forced to spend their own money just to give students the tools they need. That’s unacceptable. Our plan ensures teachers are fully equipped with the resources, materials, and support necessary to do their jobs effectively—without reaching into their own pockets.
We also need to be honest about where we stand. The United States has fallen behind in key education outcomes compared to other nations. It’s time to stop settling for average and start learning from proven success.
By adopting teaching methods and strategies that have delivered results around the world, we can raise standards, improve outcomes, and better prepare our students for the future.
This is how we strengthen education: • Fully resource our teachers
    • Invest in proven, results-driven teaching methods
    • Hold ourselves to a higher standard for student success
Because when we invest in education, we invest in the future of our community.

  • Healthcare

Healthcare should be a fundamental right in a just and compassionate society. Everyone deserves access to the care they need, when they need it.

We must also take care of the people who care for us—our doctors, nurses, EMTs, and healthcare workers. That means fair pay, safe working conditions, and the support they need to continue serving our communities at the highest level.

Patients should have the freedom to choose their providers and make informed decisions about their own care. It’s not the government’s role to dictate personal medical decisions, but it is its responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.

When we prioritize both patients and providers, we build a stronger, healthier community for everyone.

  • Affordable Housing For All

Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home—especially our seniors and the most vulnerable in our community. Yet too many families are being priced out, and too many elderly residents are struggling to stay in the neighborhoods they helped build.

    We must act with purpose.

Our plan prioritizes the development of affordable housing designed specifically for seniors, low-income families, and those most at risk of housing insecurity. These communities will not only provide shelter—but dignity, stability, and support.

We will also embrace innovation to drive costs down. By using concrete 3D printing technology in home construction, we can significantly reduce building costs, speed up development timelines, and pass those savings directly on to residents through lower housing prices.

At the same time, we have an opportunity to lower long-term living costs through smart energy solutions. By integrating geothermal and solar energy systems into new housing developments, we can reduce utility expenses for residents—delivering lower monthly bills, greater energy independence, and protection from rising energy costs.

This is how we build housing that works for people—not against them:

    • Affordable to build and live in

    • Sustainable for the future

    • Designed with our most vulnerable in mind

Because housing isn’t just about buildings—it’s about building stronger, healthier communities.

  • Clean Air, Clean Water

Clean air and clean water aren’t luxuries—they are essential. Without them, nothing else matters.

The air we breathe directly impacts our health. Poor air quality contributes to long-term illness and quietly harms our communities over time. Everyone deserves access to clean, safe air.

The same is true for water. Clean water is the foundation of life—for our families, our farms, and our environment. Without it, wildlife cannot survive, plants cannot grow, and entire ecosystems begin to fail. Our own bodies depend on clean water to function and stay healthy.

That’s why protecting our environment must be a priority. I will fight to ensure our waterways are clean, our natural resources are protected, and our communities are safe from pollution.

When we protect our air and water, we protect our people—and we secure a healthier future for generations to come.

  • Expanding Parks and Open Spaces

Expanding parks and open spaces is essential to building a healthier, stronger community.

Parks give families a place to gather, children a safe place to play, and everyone a chance to enjoy the outdoors. They improve both physical and mental health, strengthen neighborhoods, and create spaces where community life can thrive.

Open spaces also play a critical role in protecting our environment. They help preserve natural habitats, improve air and water quality, and ensure that future generations can experience the beauty of our land.

By investing in parks and green spaces, we’re not just improving quality of life—we’re increasing property values, supporting local economies, and making our communities more attractive places to live and work.

Expanding and maintaining these spaces is an investment in our people, our environment, and our future.

  • Energy

The cost of energy has skyrocketed in recent years—and it’s only expected to rise as demand grows with the expansion of AI and data centers. That’s why we need a smarter, forward-looking approach: creating jobs and producing energy at the same time.

We should focus on expanding renewable energy like geothermal and solar, helping homes, farms, and businesses become more energy independent. When we produce more energy locally than we use, we can sell the excess to surrounding areas—lowering costs and building real, lasting wealth right here in our community.

As technology continues to improve, we should also explore wind energy as part of a diversified energy strategy. By combining multiple energy sources, we can create a more stable, resilient grid while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and gas.

This isn’t just about energy—it’s about economic growth, job creation, and giving our communities more control over their future.
